Written On Your Face

You don't have to say the words for me to know
or tell cover stories for the scars that show
no need to fill in all the silent gaps
or tell why your cover stories overlap
you don't need to say what plagues your dreams
or give voice to all your silent screams
no need to fill between the lines
or fake a smile
to pass the time
i don't need to hear what stole your grace
the pain you feel
written on your face
i see clearly the pain you try to hide
the pain you try to keep inside
away from those who mean you harm
as if you cant see past their charms
no words could possibly entail
the damage you wear like a veil
no words you say could describe
the life you've lived to stay alive
the signs all there
i see the truth
no words could cover up the proof
i see the mental injuries
the fears that knocked you to your knees
the unheard prayers
unanswered cries
the tears you've covered up with lies
its up to you if you decide
to speak the words you've hid inside
but if words don't fall into place
the pains still written on your face.

Old Poem.Make mine a double.

Make mine a double.

Wash away the pain
fuel the flame
sip on courage from the bottle.
Swallow,
confidence turns to disdain
arrogance, true to its name
and still depending on this numbing sense of freedom.
Fleetingly accurate
accuracy fleeting.
Repeat steps one through four...
sip..swallow..adore..barkeep pour me another.
Smother common sense
no use for self sufficiency while openly seeking
substantially more perplexity.
Soak myself entirely
in invulnerability
you know the drill
skip the pill
opt for liquid dispensation.
Your fixation of my habits is endearing
considering
your current preoccupation.
Quickly,
show me your tab and I'll show you mine.
Skip the pleasantries, pass the wine....
or should I look past the glass within your hands?
As if your lies were hard enough to follow..
Shall I swallow harder,
or am I hard to swallow?
